Abstract
Speaking and expressing oneself is an integral part of our life. It is necessary for feeling existence of oneself. Without speech and expression, we are nothing but material. It is a universal right available to every human being. Every civilization recognizes this right. Members of Constituent Assembly welcomed adopting this right. It has been given the status of fundamental right which is most superior right in nature. In India, freedom of speech and expression is available to citizens only. Article 19 (2) puts restrictions on the right given under Article 19(1)(a). This right has various dimensions. Speaking is our choice. It depends on me when I have to speak or not. Nobody can force me to speak. Right to fly national flag is another aspect of the freedom of speech and expression. Our Supreme Judiciary also has recognised that right to internet contains protection given under Article 19(1)(a). This development is still on the march. Today, we are surrounded by fake news. There are various consequences of the fake news in society. Fake news is very dangerous for any democratic
country, especially a country like India which is known for its diversity. People of different religions and castes are living here peacefully. Fake news hampers brotherhood and peace in society. For the purpose of regulating it, a number of provisions are available under the Indian legal system. Still, this problem exists. In this paper, an attempt has been made to find a solution of fake news.
